Jasmine Johnson
I started this career in 2020, as an accountant at a construction business. After a year, I became the company's financial controller because of my distinct ability to learn quickly. I did a lot of job costing, payroll and the day-to-day.
From there I joined public accounting, where I gained a lot of tax experience doing the employee retention credit, business tax returns and personal tax returns. I still work full-time at a public CPA firm, which keeps me immersed in the day-to-day, real-world financial tax matters, and allows me to bring that knowledge to you.
Aurora Accounting began the way a lot of honest practices do. A friend's business needed real accounting, and I, already an accountant by trade, stepped in to untangle it. I set up my own LLC to do things properly and it turned out to be the start of something bigger.
Word traveled! A couple of clients became a steady practice, spreading across Utah and well beyond it, because good accounting doesn't care what state you're in. Today Aurora Accounting handles the books, payroll, and taxes for small businesses whose owners would rather focus on building their brand, than worry about keeping up with their books and taxes.
The name comes from a lifelong obsession with the northern lights. The practice runs on the same idea, providing light where there used to be darkness.

So many people offer bookkeeping. Far fewer are qualified to.
